Travel Soccer Program

Travel Commissioner - Paschalis Dagkalidis

The SCSL is committed to providing a Travel soccer program for those children and coaches looking to challenge themselves beyond the Recreational soccer level. Travel soccer is more competitive in nature. Travel teams offer competition and training for players who have the potential, drive and desire to compete at a higher level. The primary focus of the Travel Program is player development through quality coaching and high quality competition. Great emphasis is placed on teamwork and sportsmanship. During pre-announced tryout dates, players wishing to earn a position on a travel team participate in annual tryouts.

League games are scheduled primarily on Sundays, although there may be an occasional Saturday game. Home games will be played on local soccer fields and Away games will be played on fields typically within a one to two hour drive from the area. The schedule traditionally consists of 8-10 league games, half of which are played at our home fields (the Soccerplex) and the other half away. The fall season begins the weekend after Labor Day and extends through mid November. The spring season begins in March and extends through June.

The SCSL currently competes in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL), one of the top tier leagues in the northern Virginia area. We are actively seeking coaches and players to fill teams in both the girls and boys U9 through U19 divisions. If you are interested in coaching a team or having your child tryout for a travel team, please contact Chris Hill (chriskt@shentel.net 540-305-5867) or Paschalis Dagkalidis (lakisdag@yahoo.com 540-335-7356).
